People often look at cedar trees jutting out from rock cliffs on Lake Superior's North Shore and wonder, "How can that tree live there?"

People also wonder the same thing about persons with severe disabilities who are living in the community outside of large, highly protective and institutional settings.

At RSI we believe with the proper supports, anyone can live in the community regardless of the severity of their physical or mental disability.

The tree jutting out from a rock overhanging the lake seems fragile and at risk yet, firmly rooted in a small crack or crevice, this tree can live a long life. RSI's mission is to support persons with all types of disabilities, managing the risks as necessary to help them live successfully as a part of the Northeast Minnesota community.
