RSI Initiatives
Assistive Technology Pilot Project
The key goal of the Assistive Technology Pilot Project is to promote the safety and independence of our clients. To accomplish this, RSI is working with Healthsense™ to install and study the success of eNeighbor™ monitoring systems in Adult Foster Care settings. The system monitors activities in the home and calls for help if it detects a possible problem. Throughout this pilot project, we will work with clients, staff, and team members to ensure we provide the best care possible while increasing opportunities for more client independence.
At the core of the eNeighbor™ system is a network of battery-operated wireless sensors that capture activity in the home. This data allows RSI staff, from an on-campus location, to ensure the clients are safe in their residence. In essence, events are captured in real-time, and staff is notified immediately if there is any unusual activity in the home. In addition, the system allows clients to contact staff for help through a calling device, or by speaking to other devices located in designated areas of the residence. Staff members carry special phones that alert them if they need to check the home.

Security and Safety
The system acts as a home security system, and will alert staff if anyone tries to enter the residence through a window or door.
On-call staff will promptly arrive at the home to check on clients when alerts indicate that a visit is necessary.
Independence
Staff will be close by if help is needed, but will not always be physically present: Staff will be present only when clients need them.
