Residential Services has developed a diverse Outdoor / Therapeutic Recreation Program
We provide clients opportunities to participate in activities throughout the year. In the winter months, skiing, sledding, and ice fishing are available. Canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, and camping are popular activities that lend themselves to a wide range of client abilities during the spring, summer, and fall.
We also feature a 160-acre farmstead located along the St. Louis River. We have farm animals (horses, cows, and chickens), a log cabin available for overnight use, trails for hiking and skiing, and a garden and greenhouse available for clients to utilize.
Residential Services also offers expeditions throughout the United States. We have ventured to the coast of North Carolina, the Badlands and Black Hills of South Dakota, the island of Kauai, and, our local favorite, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, here in Minnesota.
Our belief at Residential Services is that the activities listed above can promote a person's psychological, physical, and emotional well being. Activities can be designed to target specific services and client goals; our goal is to provide clients with activities that they can use to improve their self-esteem, functional abilities, independence and overall quality of life.
