Training Sequence

A key to RSI's success has been its high-quality, in-depth staff training. RSI offers a variety of training opportunities designed to increase staff's knowledge and competence in providing quality services. Our training program is separated into Orientation A & B, Initial and Ongoing levels.

DSPs will follow their program's Training Track which lays out the order in which trainings are to be completed. Failure to complete trainings by assigned deadlines may result in a reduced rate of pay, limited shift assignments, being taken off of the schedule or disciplinary action. Staff may only be excused from training or have their timelines extended with the permission of their Program Manager or RN.

Refreshers

In addition to learning new information, DSPs must complete refreshers in required topics at assigned intervals. Blood Borne Pathogens, Medication Administration, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention With Physical Restraints, VA and some program specific training topics (Emergency Procedures, RSI policies, VA, Support Plans, Program Abuse Prevention Plan) must be completed annually, while both Heartsaver CPR and First Aid and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Without Restraints must be completed every 2 years. Required refreshers and deadlines are subject to change.
